ECHO Pathways

Mission: Improve reproductive and children’s health by leading the integration of environmental health into clinical care and public health while supporting communities to address historical injustices and ongoing environmental racism and address the existential threat of climate change.

About Us

The ECHO PATHWAYS study aims to advance knowledge of environmental and social factors that influence child development. We are conducting a seven-year study of nearly 3000 mother-child pairs who previously enrolled in one of three existing studies: CANDLE, GAPPS and TIDES. ECHO PATHWAYS is combining these existing studies into one large population and extending the duration of follow up through middle childhood and into adolescence. We are investigating a number of research questions, with a focus on child airway health, neurodevelopment, air pollution, stress, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

PATHWAYS is funded through the National Institutes of Health sponsored ECHO Program (Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes).
